Where is Art Wiz Liz now?
I officially graduated a little more than one year ago, which is kinda crazy to say! Since graduating, I’ve been incredibly busy, and I can’t wait to update you all.
Ever since high school, I’ve had an art Instagram, @artwiz_liz, where I would occasionally post my work. Around August, about three months after graduating, I decided to take my art more seriously and reconnect with my style. Then, in June 2025, I started my TikTok account, @artwiz_liz! After seven years of art school, I realized it was becoming harder to focus and tap back into my creativity. Art school can have that effect on artists because we spend so much time completing assignments that we rarely get the chance to experiment and discover our own style.
Because of that, I challenged myself in August 2025 to draw in my sketchbook every day using only my imagination with no references. I successfully created art for nine straight days. (Shown below)
About a month later, I started preparing for the yearly Inktober challenge that I always try to complete. For the first time in years, I’m happy to say that I finished every single drawing for Inktober 2025! (Also shown below.)
Completing these challenges helped me get back into the habit of creating consistently and sharing my work online. My TikTok has grown to 154 followers, and my Instagram has grown from 250 to over 700 followers! I started filling my sketchbook again, rediscovering my style, and creating my first large-scale paintings and pieces. (Shown below.)
I also decided to branch out and experiment with different art materials. I’ve fallen in love with making clay charms and purse charms. As I became more active on social media more people started asking to buy my work! So far, I’ve sold merchandise, initial keychains, purse charms, paintings, and even my very first art print! Right now, I’m working on opening an art shop to sell even more of my creations.
One thing I always knew I wanted to do was pursue a master’s degree. One of my biggest dreams is to teach art, and I thought that earning a master’s would help me grow as an artist and allow me to teach at the college level.
I applied to Cal State Fullerton, but I didn’t get in. I know… sad.
But during that application process, my high school art teacher, Ms. Hanshaw, helped me realize that I could still become an art teacher without a master’s degree. That changed my perspective completely. After the rejection, I put my head down and got to work; growing my creativity, building my social media presence, and applying for jobs. Soon after, I was hired as a teaching assistant with Young Rembrandts! If you’ve never heard of them, they host small after-school art sessions across the country where children learn color theory, art terminology, and the basic principles of art. I get to help guide them as they create different projects, and it has been so much fun. I’ve now been with them for three months, and I’m excited to say that hopefully this fall I’ll be teaching classes on my own instead of assisting. I truly believe God allowed me to experience that rejection because He had other opportunities waiting for me.
Needless to say, I’ve been very busy!
I still work at everyone’s favorite burger place, In-N-Out, where I get to use my art skills by creating the monthly bulletin boards. I also do graphic design for the nonprofit Catholic Men’s Fellowship, where I manage social media, create posters and postcards for events. I teach art with Young Rembrandts, and I manage my own social media while creating and selling my own artwork.
So yes... I know... I’m living a crazy life right now. But honestly, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and I can’t wait to keep sharing this journey and updating you all on what’s next!
Thank you to everyone who has supported my art journey so far! I can't wait to see where this next year takes me!
