Case Study: Typography Art Book
“Live to F****** Create” is a self-initiated design project and book created to empower artists to embrace their individuality and challenge creative norms. Designed as both a visual journey and an artistic statement, the project merges analog and digital media to celebrate raw expression and fearless experimentation.
Concept & Execution
The book features a blend of hand-drawn illustrations, watercolor textures, marker sketches, and digital enhancements. Each spread was meticulously crafted by scanning traditional artwork and layering it with bold, dynamic typography. Some compositions are built entirely from type, using techniques like distortion, separation, and layering to convey emotion and energy.
Color is a central element—every page bursts with vibrant hues that reflect the artist’s signature style and create an immersive visual experience. In addition to the book, the project’s visual identity includes promotional handout cards, a full-size poster, and a work-in-progress poster, extending the experience beyond the printed pages.
Notable Features
Six-word story series: Black-and-white image spreads were used to express compact narratives through visual storytelling.
Mixed media approach: Watercolor, markers, and Procreate were all utilized to explore different textural combinations.
Layered composition: By integrating hand-drawn elements with type, the book highlights how contrast and chaos can be harnessed into a cohesive artistic voice.
Conclusion
At its core, “Live to F****** Create” is more than a book—it’s a rallying cry for creatives. It reminds us to reject conformity, embrace the messy process, and constantly evolve as artists. Through its unapologetic tone and vibrant design, the project serves as both inspiration and invitation: to live boldly, and to create without compromise.
